Ciampitti, sexto en una final de 200 de primera clase, con el superstar Asinga

Fuente: Atletismo Sudamericano / foto Wagner Carmo, CBAT Sin dudas, el superstar de este Campeonato Sudamericano por su histórica actuación en los 100 metros llanos donde venció con récord de 9.89 (también plusmarca mundial junior), el surinamés Issamade Asinga prolongó sus éxitos en Sao Paulo en la jornada de clausura, este domingo 30 de julio sobre la pista del Centro Olímpico, en Vila Clementina. Protagonizó un intenso duelo con  un coloso de la especialidad, el veterano -33 años- panameño Alonso Edward, quien lleva casi 15 temporadas en los primeros planos internacionales: recordman sudamericano con 19.89 desde que escoltara a Usain Bolt en la finalísima mundial de Berlin 2009, desde entonces ha estado en finales mundiales, panamericanas, centroamericanas, bolivarianas y un largo etcétera. Edward exhibió otra vez su experiencia y calidad, pero no pudo ante el embate y la soltura de Asinga en el tramo decisivo de la carrera, mientras que el paraguayo César Almirón conquistó una meritoria medalla de bronce. Y así, este prodigio oriundo de Texas consumó el doblete (100-200), privilegio de los mejores velocistas del historial sudamericano. La final se disputó con un viento de 0.7ms y Asinga marcó 20.19, que representa el nuevo récord de los campeonatos, dejando atrás los 20.41 del colombiano Bernardo Baloyes en Lima, hace cuatro temporadas. Edward registró 20.30 y Almirón llegó al bronce con 20.49. Estas actuaciones reflejan el nivel que alcanzó la velocidad en los distintos países de nuestra región, tal como se anticipó con los históricos 100 metros llanos del viernes. Ahora, el brasileño Jorge Henrique da Costa Vides quedó cuarto con 20.59, un puesto por delante del colombiano Oscar Baltán (20.89). El argentino Juan Ignacio Ciampitti fue sexto con 21.10 y cerró el ecuatoriano Katriel Angulo, séptimo con 21.14. No participó el otro colombiano clasificado para la final, Carlos Andrés Palacios. (Ciampitti tuvo un excelente desempeño en la posta 4x100, durante la jornada anterior, donde el equipo nacional igualó el récord de 39.85 y ocupó el cuarto puesto.
